Potential Health Effects
Eye: May cause eye irritation. May cause redness and pain
Skin: May cause skin irritation. May be harmful if absorbed through the skin
Repeated or prolonged exposure may cause drying and cracking of the skin
Ingestion: May causes gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
May be harmful if swallowed
Inhalation: Inhalation of vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation. Inhalation of
high concentrations may cause central nervous system effects characterized by nausea,
headache. May be harmful if inhaled.
Section 4-First Aid Measures
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water, occasionally lifting the
upper and lower eyelids. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.
Skin: Flush skin with plenty of soap and water. While removing contaminated
clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious
person. Wash out mouth with water. Get medical aid.
Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not
breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
Section 5 - Fire Fighting Measures
General Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear.
During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion.
Extinguishing Media: Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers.Use water
spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or chemical foam.
Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures
General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in
Spills/Leaks: Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth), then
place in suitable container. Remove all sources of ignition.
Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not let this chemical enter the environment and drains.
Section 7 - Handling and Storage
Handling: Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust, vapor, mist, or gas.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid ingestion and inhalation.
Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated away from incompatible substances.
Store in a tightly closed container. Keep away from sources of ignition.
Section 8 - Exposure Controls, Personal Protection
Engineering Controls: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower.
Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Individual Protection for Industrial Use
Eyes: Wear chemical safety goggles.
Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators: Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or
European Standard EN 149. Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved
respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
